Student placement and day release opportunities
We’re keen to build early relationships with students who are ambitious for work experience and this is why we offer:
- Year Out Placements for students in the third year of their sandwich degree (10 - 12 months)
- Summer Placements for students in any year of a degree (8-12 weeks)
During your placement you will have the chance to work on live projects and gain a huge amount of valuable experience that will benefit you both when you return to university and in your future career. Many of our placement students receive a permanent graduate offer of employment to take up on completion of their degree.
Entry Route Requirements
- Year Out Placements studying a degree in a relevant subject for the placement type - predicted grade of 2.1 or above
- Summer Placements studying a degree in a relevant subject for the placement type- predicted grade of 2.1 or above
The Placement Application Process:
You can apply online through www.echarrisjobs.com/applyhere.htm. If your application is successful, you will be invited to an interview in the location you are interested in joining. This will allow you to show your skills and qualities beyond what you can tell us on your application form and build up a fuller picture of our business. You will receive a decision within two weeks of your interview, often sooner.
My year out placement at EC Harris has given me a great footing in the industry. The opportunity to work at a professional level, on real projects, has furthered my understanding of the construction process and has improved my technical and commercial awareness. The high level of responsibility was evident from the outset; within my second week I was assisting with off-site valuations, one of which I carried out by myself in Italy! The expertise I have gained over the year has proven invaluable and can be easily transferred to my final year studies. In addition, the opportunity to start recording my experience for the APC training programme was an advantageous opportunity.

Day Release Routes
In addition to apprenticeships, EC Harris also offer a small number of Day Release Undergraduate positions for those who have completed their A Levels and wish to study for a University degree on a day release basis. If you join us through this route, you will be employed by us on a permanent basis and would attend university approximately one day per week during term time to work towards your degree, which usually takes five years to complete. We usually offer Day Release positions in Quantity Surveying, Project Management and Building Surveying - full details of positions currently on offer can be found on our website.
