Training & development
You will join a full and comprehensive development programme that is carefully structured to help you pass a relevant professional qualification, normally your Assessment of Professional Competence (APC), in the minimum time frame.
But your development won't stop with a professional qualification. Our development programme ensures you are equipped with the technical and professional knowledge to excel in your day-to-day role, as well as developing your soft and people skills to enhance your capability to become one of our future leaders.
Please enjoy navigating our whiteboard to find out about our training opportunities.
Graduate Induction Programme (GIP)
The week-long GIP will kick off your Graduate Development Programme. It will give you a thorough introduction to the company, launch a number of development activities that will take place over the coming months and give you the chance to network with your fellow graduates. You will know what is expected of you regarding the APC and experience your first personal/soft skills training sessions. On a lighter note, there are evening events with Partners and Associates from across the business.
APC
The APC will usually be the first milestone in your career, and our comprehensive APC Programme will support you every step of the way to gain it as quickly as possible. As well as receiving support from your supervisor and counsellor, you will gain the necessary breadth and depth of experience, attend monthly workshops run by in-house experts and benefit from Final Assessment preparation sessions run by external consultants. We will, of course, also pay your fees and give you study leave to prepare for your final assessment.
Professional Qualifications
While most of our graduates work towards their APC, we also support additional qualifications such as CIOB, ACCA & CIMA and CIBSE, to mention just a few. Our support takes the form of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminars, quarterly and annual reports, core skills training and revision courses.
Blended Learning
Through our Learning and Development Services team, we provide a series of blended learning activities that will ensure that your technical skills and knowledge are continually increasing, allowing you to develop through our transparent career family development structure. These include e-learning, classroom-based training, on-the-job learning and coaching and technical talks, which you can complete at your own pace.
Reviews
Three-monthly reviews with your line manager will be held for you to keep check on your progress. Using our Learning Management System, you will discuss all the training you have launched, completed and committed to. This will allow your line manager to ensure that you are constantly adding to your technical knowledge and the career family - a framework for your career progression - is meeting your development needs.
Research Initiative
The Graduate Research Initiative will run during your first six months. It will allow you to increase your exposure to the firm, gain expert knowledge in a specific area and work in cross-discipline teams to enhance your understanding of the business. This will include getting to grips with new and emerging construction technologies.
Events
Six-monthly soft and personal skills development events will help to turn you from a technically able graduate into a future leader who can take the business forward. Not only do these events give you the chance to increase your soft skills base, they are also an ideal opportunity for networking.
Conversion Courses
We take on an increasing number of non-cognate graduates, who need to undertake conversion courses in order to gain their professional qualifications. As a non-cognate, you will study a Postgraduate Diploma or MSc conversion course via day release or distance learning - all conversion courses are fully financed and supported by us.
